17 year-old Emma Raducanu showed British tennis fans just why they should be excited about her prospects, following another impressive run at an ITF W25 event.
The Brit lost out in the final of the W25 event in Sunderland to top seed Viktoriya Tomova (WR 151), winning the first set before falling to a 4-6 6-4 6-3 defeat.
Tomova, who defeated Briton Samantha Murray Sharan in the semi-finals, was a losing finalist in last week’s event in Glasgow and went one better in Sunderland to pick up her third ITF W25 title.
Raducanu was impressive all week, picking up victories over second seed Elitsa Kostova, fifth seed Richel Hogenkamp and Glasgow champion Clara Tauson. Tomova proved to be one step too far, but the Brit will likely climb above her career high ranking next week.
Raducanu has already got one W25 title to her name, after clinching the title in Pune last December, and will be hoping to continue this progress in the Spring.
