Teenager Jack Draper was unable to win his first ITF title of the season after losing to Lucas Poullain 0-6 7-5 6-3 in Glasgow.
Playing in just his third tournament of the year, Draper looked set to claim his fourth M25 title after bagelling his opponent in the opening set in under 20 minutes. However, after trading early breaks in the second set, Poullain recovered, breaking Draper at 6-5 to take the match to an unlikely decider.
Draper started the final set with intent, breaking his opponent to love before backing it up with a steady hold. However, his French opponent quickly levelled, before saving two break points to edge in front at 3-2.
After missing out on the break, Draper was then put under pressure, with Poullain breaking before comfortably serving to lead 5-2. And despite Draper saving a match point on his own service game, Poullain was able to serve out to love to clinch the biggest title of his career.
Draper will be disappointed not to add to his M25 titles in Chiswick, Roehampton and Shrewsbury, especially having led in the final set. He now moves on to Sunderland, where he will be among the favourites to clinch the title in another M25 event.
